Privacy Policy
Overview
Fish Friendsy is a fishing companion app for catch logging, an interactive fishing map, and weather/tide planning. The App is built around a privacy-first design: catches and favorite spots are private by default, and sharing with friends or groups is always something you choose to turn on.
Information We Collect
Account and identity data
- Email address and password, or your Apple ID information if you use Sign in with Apple, to create and secure your account.
- A unique account/user identifier created by our authentication provider (Firebase Authentication) to keep your data associated with your account.
- Your display name, if you provide one during profile setup.
Profile information
- Optional profile details you choose to add, such as home water and favorite species.
- An optional profile photo.
Catch and content data
- Details you enter for each catch, such as species, size, bait, notes, date/time, and privacy setting.
- Optional photos you attach to a catch.
- Favorite fishing spots you save, including their name and location.
Location data
- Precise location, only when you choose a location-based action, such as centering the map on your current position, attaching GPS coordinates to a catch, saving a favorite spot, or finding nearby tide stations.
- Coarse location or searched location, such as an area you search for on the map or use to look up weather and tide information, even if it is not your current GPS position.
You can decline location permission and still use most of the App; location-dependent features will simply be unavailable until you choose to enable them.
Usage, diagnostics, and feedback data
- Basic product interaction and analytics events (for example, which screens are used) if analytics are enabled for your build.
- Crash reports and diagnostic data used to fix bugs.
- Beta feedback you voluntarily submit from the Profile tab, and any TestFlight feedback you send through Apple's TestFlight app.
How We Use Information
- To create and secure your account and let you sign in.
- To provide core features: catch logging, the fishing map, weather and tide planning, and radar overlays.
- To let you optionally share specific catches or spots with friends or groups you choose.
- To diagnose crashes, fix bugs, and improve app performance.
- To respond to support requests and beta feedback you send us.
We do not sell your personal information.
Third-Party Services We Use
Fish Friendsy relies on the following service providers to operate. Each provider only receives the data needed to perform its function.

These providers process data under their own privacy and security practices. We select providers that offer encryption in transit and industry-standard security practices.
Private By Default, Sharing By Choice
New catches and favorite spots are private to your account unless you explicitly choose to share them with a friend or group inside the App. Some beta social features may use seeded or local friend/group targets while cloud-based friend management continues to be built out; we will keep this policy updated as that changes.
How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We only share data:
- With the service providers listed above, to operate the App;
- With other users, only for the specific content you choose to share (for example, a catch shared with a friend or group);
- If required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Fish Friendsy or others; or
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to you where required by law.
Data Retention
We retain account, profile, and catch data for as long as your account is active so the App can function. If you delete a catch, spot, or your account, we remove the associated data from our active systems, other than information we must retain for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes, or backups that age out on a routine schedule.
Your Choices and Rights
- Access and edit your profile and catch data directly in the App.
- Location permission can be granted, changed, or revoked at any time in your device's Settings.
- Photo library permission can be granted, changed, or revoked at any time in your device's Settings.
- Sharing controls let you choose whether each catch or spot stays private or is shared with friends/groups.
- Account and data deletion: email support@fishfriendsy.com to request deletion of your account and associated data.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal information (for example, under the EU/UK GDPR or U.S. state privacy laws), including the right to request a copy of your data or object to certain processing. Contact us at the email above to exercise these rights.
Children's Privacy
Fish Friendsy is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Data Security
We use reputable cloud infrastructure (Firebase/Google Cloud and Supabase) with encryption in transit, access-controlled databases, and security rules that restrict data access to authenticated account owners and, where applicable, users you explicitly share content with. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
International Data Storage
Your information may be processed and stored on servers operated by our service providers, which may be located in the United States or other countries. By using the App, you consent to this transfer, storage, and processing.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the App evolves, especially during beta testing. We will update the "last updated" date above when we make changes, and, for material changes, we will provide additional notice where appropriate.
